Microsoft took the wraps of it's new Windows 8 tablet. The reports have been very favorable so far, a welcome sign for Microsoft. Windows 8 will run on so many devices that it seems like Microsoft is likely going to merge their operating systems in the next version of Windows and just have one OS for all devices. We'll see. Apple has launched Kindle Cloud Reader, a web-based reader for your Kindle books. Nook Color pulled from shelves temporarily

The Nook Color has apparently been pulled from store shelves temporarily. The ereader is backordered at Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble's own site says the device is not shipping for two weeks. No reason has been given, but several outlets are reporting Barnes & Noble wants to make the Nook Color hack proof. The iPad-only newspaper from Rupert Murdock has finally launched, but what if you're not on your iPad. The Daily makes its content available on the web to both subscribers and non-subscribers for free, but there is no convenient way to index the content. Rumors have been swirling for some time that Sony Ericsson is working on a PlayStation phone. This video looks like some proof that there is in fact a PlayStation phone in the works. There isn't much in the video, but the blogger that posted the video has some interesting information to report. Nook Color rooted

Barnes and Noble's ebook reader, the Nook Color, has been rooted. Because the Nook runs Android it's not very difficult to root. The root essentially turns the Nook into a tablet and as you can see from the photo, it can run Angry Birds. John Mayer, a known BlackBerry user, had 3.7 million followers on his Twitter account, but he has decided to close the account. A spokesman for Mayer said he closed his account with his Battle Studies Tour "now at a close and a return to the studio planned." Mayer plans to keep in touch with his fans via his blog. Google drops development of Google Wave

Google Wave was so promising, but it simply did not catch on. That's the bottom line that caused Google to drop Wave. Google announced today via the company's blog that they will no longer continue to develop Google Wave. Google will leave Wave in its place until at least the end of the year.
