HTC Athena Ultra Mobile PC Will Launch Next Week

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - January 25, 2007

According to DigiTimes, Dopod International will launch HTC's first ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) as the Dopod U1000 next week. The launch will take place in the Taiwan market.

The launch is a bit of a surprise as most sources expected HTC to launch the device by the end of the first quarter.

The U1000 will run Microsoft Windows Mobile Pocket PC OS on a Marvel Xscale 624 MHz processor. It will feature a 5-inch touch screen, 3-megapixel camera, and an 8GB hard disk drive.

No word on US availability but some market sources expect Cingular to offer the unit. We'll see.
